On-Line Monitoring for Temporal Logic Robustness
In this paper, we provide a Dynamic Programming algorithm for on-line
monitoring of the state robustness of Metric Temporal Logic specifications with
past time operators. We compute the robustness of MTL with unbounded past and
bounded future temporal operators MTL over sampled traces of Cyber-Physical
Systems. We implemented our tool in Matlab as a Simulink block that can be used
in any Simulink model. We experimentally demonstrate that the overhead of the
MTL robustness monitoring is acceptable for certain classes of practical
specifications
Noncommutativity, generalized uncertainty principle and FRW cosmology
We consider the effects of noncommutativity and the generalized uncertainty
principle on the FRW cosmology with a scalar field. We show that, the
cosmological constant problem and removability of initial curvature singularity
find natural solutions in this scenarios.Comment: 8 pages, to appear in IJT
Common principles and best practices for engineering microbiomes
Despite broad scientific interest in harnessing the power of Earth's microbiomes, knowledge gaps
hinder their efficient use for addressing urgent societal and environmental challenges. We argue
hat structuring research and technology developments around a design-build-test-learn (DBTL)
cycle will advance microbiome engineering and spur new discoveries on the basic scientific
principles governing microbiome function. In this Review, we present key elements of an
iterative DBTL cycle for microbiome engineering, focusing on generalizable approaches,
including top-down and bottom-up design processes, synthetic and self-assembled construction
methods, and emerging tools to analyze microbiome function. These approaches can be used to
harness microbiomes for broad applications related to medicine, agriculture, energy, and the
environment. We also discuss key challenges and opportunities of each approach and synthesize
them into best practice guidelines for engineering microbiomes. We anticipate that adoption of a
DBTL framework will rapidly advance microbiome-based biotechnologies aimed at improving
human and animal health, agriculture, and enabling the bioeconomy
Soil biochemistry and microbial activity in vineyards under conventional and organic management at Northeast Brazil.

This region is responsible for 97% of the national exportation of table grapes, including seedless grapes. Based on the fact that organic fertilization can improve soil quality, we compared the effects of conventional and organic soil management on microbial activity and mycorrhization of seedless grape crops. We measured glomerospores number, most probable number (MPN) of propagules, richness of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) species, AMF root colonization, EE-BRSP production, carbon microbial biomass (C-MB), microbial respiration, fluorescein diacetate hydrolytic activity (FDA) and metabolic coefficient (qCO2). The organic management led to an increase in all variables with the exception of EE-BRSP and qCO2. Mycorrhizal colonization increased from 4.7% in conventional crops to 15.9% in organic crops. Spore number ranged from 4.1 to 12.4 per 50 g-1 soil in both management systems. The most probable number of AMF propagules increased from 79 cm-3 soil in the conventional system to 110 cm-3 soil in the organic system. Microbial carbon, CO2 emission, and FDA activity were increased by 100 to 200% in the organic crop. Thirteen species of AMF were identified, the majority in the organic cultivation system. Acaulospora excavata, Entrophospora infrequens, Glomus sp.3 and Scutellospora sp. were found only in the organically managed crop. S. gregaria was found only in the conventional crop. Organically managed vineyards increased mycorrhization and general soil microbial activity
Bi-Large Neutrino Mixing See-Saw Mass Matrix with Texture Zeros and Leptogenesis
We study constraints on neutrino properties from texture zeros in bi-large
mixing See-Saw mass matrix and also from leptogenesis. Texture zeros may occur
in the light (class a)) or in the heavy (class b)) neutrino mass matrices. Each
of these two classes has 5 different forms which can produce non-trivial three
generation mixing with at least one texture zero. We find that two types of
texture zero mass matrices in both class a) and class b) can be consistent with
present data on neutrino masses, mixing and produce the observed baryon
asymmetry of the universe. None of the neutrinos can have zero masses with the
lightest of the light neutrinos having a mass larger than about 0.039 eV for
class a) and 0.002 eV for class b). In these models although CKM CP violating
phase vanishes, non-zero Majorana phases, however, can exist and play an
important role in producing the observed baryon asymmetry in our universe
through leptogenesis mechanism. The requirement of producing the observed
baryon asymmetry can further distinguish different models and also restrict the
See-Saw scale to be in the range GeV.Comment: 21 pages, 7 figures revised version, some references added, to be

Dynamically generated resonances from the vector octet-baryon decuplet interaction
We study the interaction of the octet of vector mesons with the decuplet of
baryons using Lagrangians of the hidden gauge theory for vector interactions.
The unitary amplitudes in coupled channels develop poles that can be associated
with some known baryonic resonances, while there are predictions for new ones
at the energy frontier of the experimental research. The work offers guidelines
on how to search for these resonances
Counting BPS Operators in Gauge Theories: Quivers, Syzygies and Plethystics
We develop a systematic and efficient method of counting single-trace and
multi-trace BPS operators with two supercharges, for world-volume gauge
theories of D-brane probes for both and finite . The
techniques are applicable to generic singularities, orbifold, toric, non-toric,
complete intersections, et cetera, even to geometries whose precise field
theory duals are not yet known. The so-called ``Plethystic Exponential''
provides a simple bridge between (1) the defining equation of the Calabi-Yau,
(2) the generating function of single-trace BPS operators and (3) the
generating function of multi-trace operators. Mathematically, fascinating and
intricate inter-relations between gauge theory, algebraic geometry,
combinatorics and number theory exhibit themselves in the form of plethystics
and syzygies.Comment: 59+1 pages, 7 Figure
Propagator of a Charged Particle with a Spin in Uniform Magnetic and Perpendicular Electric Fields
We construct an explicit solution of the Cauchy initial value problem for the
time-dependent Schroedinger equation for a charged particle with a spin moving
in a uniform magnetic field and a perpendicular electric field varying with
time. The corresponding Green function (propagator) is given in terms of
elementary functions and certain integrals of the fields with a characteristic
function, which should be found as an analytic or numerical solution of the
equation of motion for the classical oscillator with a time-dependent
frequency. We discuss a particular solution of a related nonlinear Schroedinger
equation and some special and limiting cases are outlined.Comment: 17 pages, no figure
DN interaction from meson exchange
A model of the DN interaction is presented which is developed in close
analogy to the meson-exchange KbarN potential of the Juelich group utilizing
SU(4) symmetry constraints. The main ingredients of the interaction are
provided by vector meson (rho, omega) exchange and higher-order box diagrams
involving D*N, D\Delta, and D*\Delta intermediate states. The coupling of DN to
the pi-Lambda_c and pi-Sigma_c channels is taken into account. The interaction
model generates the Lambda_c(2595) resonance dynamically as a DN quasi-bound
state. Results for DN total and differential cross sections are presented and
compared with predictions of an interaction model that is based on the
leading-order Weinberg-Tomozawa term. Some features of the Lambda_c(2595)
resonance are discussed and the role of the near-by pi-Sigma_c threshold is
emphasized. Selected predictions of the orginal KbarN model are reported too.
Specifically, it is pointed out that the model generates two poles in the
partial wave corresponding to the Lambda(1405) resonance.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure
Atmospheric aerosols at the Pierre Auger Observatory and environmental implications
The Pierre Auger Observatory detects the highest energy cosmic rays.
Calorimetric measurements of extensive air showers induced by cosmic rays are
performed with a fluorescence detector. Thus, one of the main challenges is the
atmospheric monitoring, especially for aerosols in suspension in the
atmosphere. Several methods are described which have been developed to measure
the aerosol optical depth profile and aerosol phase function, using lasers and
other light sources as recorded by the fluorescence detector. The origin of
atmospheric aerosols traveling through the Auger site is also presented,
highlighting the effect of surrounding areas to atmospheric properties. In the
aim to extend the Pierre Auger Observatory to an atmospheric research platform,
a discussion about a collaborative project is presented.Comment: Regular Article, 16 pages, 12 figure
